I love cooking healthy meals for my family at home, but some weeks with the busy life of 2 under 2 it can be a hard task. Meal planning can take too much creative brain work, grocery shopping can be quite the task, and then actually cooking what I thought would be a good idea during the week can be time-consuming and unmotivating. Cue Healthy Meal Plans, a fabulous tool that requires minimal brainwork for meal planning, automatically creates your grocery list, and nearly all the meals can be made within 30 minutes. I have seriously been waiting for this all my adult life ????

Create Your Meal Plan
Healthy Meal Plans has several meal plans available for different dietary restrictions including vegan, pescatarian, low carb, gluten free and more. Once you choose your meal plan you can scroll through the different weeks, they have 4 and 12 week options, I love the Omnivore 12 Week Meal Plan, and select what appeals to you most. You can take your meal plan as is or switch things around. One thing I like to switch around are the breakfasts and lunches. During the week it’s just me and the little dude so I pick my 2 favourites and eat them on repeat for a few days. You also have the option of creating your own meal plan from their library of hundreds of recipes, but I personally love the minimal brainwork of choosing one of their affordable plans that are yours to keep, just $9.99-$24.99, less than the cost of popular cookbooks, and I have peace of mind knowing that it’s dietitian approved.
Next, you create your list for grocery shopping. I used to write this out by hand, but now it’s as simple as clicking a few buttons and printing it out. With Healthy Meal Plans your list is automatically created based on your meal plan. First, you choose servings for each meal so you can make sure you aren’t shopping for meals for 4 when it’s actually just 2 for a particular night, thank you minimized food waste! Then once your list is created, you can go through and quickly remove everything that’s already in your pantry, like olive oil, spices, extra carrots, whatever it may be. Once you’re done you’ll have a printed list that’s broken down into categories for easy shopping through the different grocery store departments, although I must admit, I’m all about that online shopping with delivery ????

I’m going to be completely honest, when I looked at the meals on my meal plan I thought they would take too much time, I even put off cooking a few of them, but after trying a few, and trying a few more, I am sooooo impressed by how quick, easy and tasty they are! My second reservation was that my husband is a meat and potatoes type of guy who’s always a little weary when I get a bit creative in the kitchen. I was worried about what he would think about Mango Fish Tacos, California Roll Lunch Bowls, Peruvian Shrimp, and the Ranch Turkey Sweet Potato Skillet, but you guys, he actually really liked everything! Most of the time he went back for seconds and he said he’d happily eat all of the recipes again, if that ain’t proof I don’t know what is!
If you can’t already tell, I’m kind of obsessed with Healthy Meal Plans, and I wholeheartedly believe you should try it. It makes meal planning and grocery shopping super easy, especially when you’re not feeling that creative for new meal ideas. It also means healthier eating for your entire family with toddler adaptable meals that everyone will enjoy, and you’ll actually want to cook them because they’ll be surprisingly quick and easy to whip up.
