The long weekend is coming up and it’s always fun to get together with friends, especially for our 150th, and that’s why I’ve brought together this collection of Canada Day party ideas. I’ve had my fair share of killer Canada Day parties, but to be honest I haven’t celebrated very much over the past couple of years. That’ll change this year with a fun camping trip with friends, stay tuned for a camping hacks post coming in a couple of weeks.
I’ve broken this post up into 5 main categories: drinks, snacks, desserts, decor, and style. If you’re looking for more inspiration you can find even more ideas on my Canada Day Pinterest board. Click the name of the website to follow the link for each idea.
Drinks
Strawberry Cheesecake Jello Shooters
Tixeretne
Jello shooters are a fun addition to any party. This particular recipe doesn’t use any alcohol which is great for me, but it’s super easy to swap out some of the water when you make the jello. Try substituting half of the water for vodka, or amaretto would be tasty too!
Ceasers
o.Canada.com
Ceasers are a classic Canadian drink, and there are so many ways to make them. If you have the space you could make a ceaser bar at your party with different kinds of hot sauces, horseradish, spices, celery, pickled everything, and any other kinds of toppings and mixes you and your guests can enjoy and have fun with.
Cran Raspberry Spritzer
Mom Dot
Sparkly sweet drinks are always tasty to have and great to make for parties. Again, this particular recipe is non-alcoholic but you could easily substitute champagne or vodka.
Snacks
Poutine
Dear Crissy
What better way to celebrate Canada Day than with a classic Canadian dish like poutine. You could even do a full poutine bar with different kinds of gravies, cheese, meats, and veggies to put on top. Coming from a vegetarian, nothing makes me happier than realizing there’s mushroom gravy that I can actually have. If you do a poutine bar I highly recommend doing a mushroom and beef gravy so everyone can partake.
Ketchup Chips
How to Throw a Canada Day Party for Under $50 – Food Network
Ketchup chips are another great Canadian classic and they’re super easy to serve. I would actually kick it up a notch and have ketchup and dill pickle chips available. You could leave them out in bowls or dress them up with cute cardboard serving containers from the dollar store.
Strawberry Feta Salad
Kara’s Favourite Recipes
This super easy to make salad is nice and light for a hot summer day. If you’re leaving food out for the day for your guests to casually snack on I recommend leaving the dressing out on the side. You could even give them a couple options: lemon poppy seed as used in the recipe and a nice balsamic or honey balsamic vinaigrette.
Desserts
Canadian Flag Pudding Pops
The Recipe Rebel
Cool down during your Canada Day party with these perfectly Canadian pudding pops that are sure to grab the attention of party goers. With just 5 ingredients they’re super simple to make.
White Red Velvet Fudge
The Cafe Sucre Farine
These delicious white and red cubes look like quite the show stopper for any Canada Day party. Excuse me while I drool over these for a little while.
Canadian Butter Tart Squares
Flavour & Savour
Butter tarts are another classic fit for a Canada Day party. The square version makes it a little easier to make than individual tarts, and when planning a party you can use all the ease that you can get. Bonus this recipe is gluten free, but if you love your classic shortbread crust she talks about what she swaps out to make it gluten free and you could always swap it back in.
Maple Bacon Donuts
Jo and Sue
This recipe is for my meat eaters out there and is sure to be a winner with your guests. Although I don’t eat meat and don’t want bacon at all I can see how appitizing these would be for the carnivores.
Decor
Canada Day Wreath
Unknown
I couldn’t find the source for this wreath, but I still had to include it. There are so many big huge wreaths for Canada Day, and don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with them, but I really like this simpler uniquely Canadian version that would be fairly easy to replicate.
Free Printables
Botanical Paperworks
Attached are some really cute free Canadian printables including bunting, cupcake toppers, and bottle wrappers.
Canada Day Table Decorations
Lush Home
This link has 50 different table decorations from simple to over the top. Whatever your style you’re sure to find some Canada Day party ideas.
Style
Polished and Casual
Again, I couldn’t find the source, but this outfit is so cute for a slightly dressier version of a basic tshirt with shorts. It can easily take you from day to night with some comfy sandals and cute pumps.
Striped Tee and White Jean Shorts
Jess Ann Kirby
This outfit is great if it’s still a little cool where you are, or you can toss a long sleeve like this over your tank as it gets cooler in the evening while you’re still outside having fun.
Typically Canadian
Unknown
This outfit is so typically Canadian and so something I would wear to my Canada Day celebrations. It covers all of the basis: denim, lumberjack plaid, Blue Jays, and Canadian beer.
Camilla Dress
Lucky Duck
This pick is for my dressy girls out there. It’s so gorgeous and could also be worn for the holidays and Valentines Day.
There ya have it, 20 Canada Day party ideas, and don’t forget there’s even more awesome ideas on my Pinterest board.
