This is the last of the hydration series. First I brought you 5 tasty infused water recipes, then you learned more about the health benefits of drinking water, and now you have 10 tips to help you drink more water.
As you can probably tell, I’m a huge water drinker! I can always tell when I haven’t had enough water because my body doesn’t run quite right and I’ll start to get a small headache and a bit of grogginess. Luckily I’m pretty in tune to my body and know that chugging a bunch of water generally clears my head and perks me right up, but it wasn’t always this easy to stay on track and drink lots of water throughout the day.
I used to be queen of drinking energy drinks, I had terrible skin, and I’d frequently feel quite sick. After having yet another random bout of sickness and tiredness for a day I knew something had to change and I started to shift my focus on drinking lots of water. Over the years I found it easier and easier to drink more water and it’s all thanks to these 10 tips. I hope you find them to be as helpful to you as they are to me.
Drink a Glass of Water 1st Thing in the Morning
Start your water intake off right by downing a nice cold glass of water first thing in the morning. Along with all of water’s health benefits drinking a glass right away in the morning kick starts your metabolism and gets you out of the dehydrated state all of us are in after sleeping throughout the night using up whatever water is left in our system from drinking water throughout the day.
Drink a Glass of Water With Every Meal
Skip juice or pop with your meal and replace it with water. Not only will you up your water intake, you’ll reduce your sugar intake and feel more full so you’re less likely to overindulge.
Drink a Glass of Water Right Before Bed
As I mentioned in the first tip, we all wake up dehydrated after sleeping throughout the night. Up your water intake, and help support your body by drinking a glass of water during your evening routine before you go to bed.

Always Have Water With You
One of the best ways to drink more water is to always have water with you. Bring a glass of water to your work station. Bring a water bottle around with you when you’re commuting and running errands, and always bring water with you when you’re exercising.
Use a Large Glass
When you’re working or at home and have a glass of water, rather than a water bottle, opt for a very large glass. It can be unmotivating to constantly have to fill a cup up, so instead choose a large glass that you’ll have to fill much less frequently. If you’re like me and prefer your water to be nice and cold make sure it can stay that way by using a good amount of ice cubes, or infused ice cubes. Not sure what size to use? I prefer a 1 L jar, but it’s good to keep it over 750 ml.
Have a Cute Water Bottle
I don’t know about you, but I love to use things that look cute. Whether it’s a cute notebook and pen, or cute workout gear, and the same thing applies to water bottles. Make sure you have a cute water bottle that you want to bring around with you. You can also use it as a reward: after you drink water regularly for 2 weeks, or a month, you can reward yourself with a super cute water bottle. Be careful though, you may end up becoming cute water bottle obsessed like me, and end up with a cupboard full of cute water bottles and hot drink containers.
Set Reminders to Drink More Water
It can be easy to forget about drinking water throughout the day. That’s why I like to set reminders. You could set regular google reminders, or use an app. I really like the Water Drink Reminder app I mention in my post about fitness apps that will help you achieve your goals. You can customize how frequently it reminds you and what the notification sounds like.
Track Your Water Intake
Help yourself stay on track by recording your water intake throughout the day. You could do this in several ways, but I like that the Water Drink Reminder app also helps you track your intake by giving you several different sized drink containers to choose from and add to your day. You can also see your water drinking progress over the past week, month, or even year, and it sure can be motivating to get that goal reached notification towards the end of the day!
Infuse Your Water
If you find water to be a bit boring and hard to drink all day long, try infusing your water. You can find 5 great recipes on a recent blog post, and I also have lots of great infused water ideas on Pinterest. If you like eating fruit, you likely already have so many possibilities hiding in your fridge!
